Okay, so I’ve been totally obsessed with Maine Coon cats lately. They’re just so majestic and fluffy! But I realized I didn’t know much about the colors they come in. So, I dove into a little research project today.
My Maine Coon Color Quest
First, I grabbed my laptop and opened up my browser. I started with a simple search – just “Maine Coon cat colors.” Wow, did that open a can of worms! I found so many pictures and websites, it was a little overwhelming at first.

I started clicking through some of the results, and skimmed a few articles. It turns out, Maine Coons come in, like, a million different colors and patterns. Okay, maybe not a million, but a lot!
- I saw pictures of solid-colored ones – black, white, red (which is like a ginger color), blue (which is really more like a gray), and cream.
- Then there were the tabbies! These guys have stripes and swirls, and they come in all sorts of shades too. Classic tabbies have these big, bold patterns, while mackerel tabbies have thinner stripes.
- I learned about “tortoiseshell” Maine Coons – they’re mostly black but with patches of red and cream mixed in. Super pretty!
- And then some have white markings, like little white mittens or a white blaze on their chest.
- I even read about silver and smoke Maine Coons. These look like they Have a base color, but the tips of their fur are a different shade.
I spent a good hour just browsing pictures and reading about the different color combinations. It’s crazy how much variation there is! It made me want one even more. And I got lost looking at all of the adorable fluffballs.
Finally.I closed my laptop, feeling much more informed. My mission was accomplished! I now feel like a mini-expert on Maine Coon cat colors. Now, about how to get my husband agree to get me one…
