Okay, so I’ve got a small dog, a cute little Yorkie named Max. He’s picky, like really picky. Feeding him has always been a bit of a struggle, to be honest. I’ve tried so many different types of food, it’s ridiculous.
The Search Begins
I started, like everyone else I guess, with the stuff you see everywhere. The big-name brands, you know? I dumped a scoop in his bowl, and he just sniffed it and walked away. Tried a different flavor, same thing. It was so frustrating!

Then I moved on to wet food. Figured maybe the texture was the problem. He’d eat some of it, but then he’d get bored after a few days. Back to square one.
Getting a Little More Serious
I started reading up online, looking at forums and stuff. People were talking about ingredients, grain-free this, limited-ingredient that… it was a lot to take in. I felt like I was going down a rabbit hole!
- I tried a few “premium” dry foods – the ones that cost a fortune. Nope.
- I even tried some of those refrigerated, fresh-food options. Max actually liked one of those for a while, but it was so expensive to keep up with.
- One time, I attempted a homemade diet. Read all about it, bought all the ingredients… what a disaster! Took forever, and Max still wouldn’t eat it consistently.
Finally, Some Success!
I kept searching and tried a small brand and, surprisingly Max really liked the food.
It is chicken flavor and I mix it with warm water, now Max always finish every meal!
It’s been a long road, honestly. But seeing Max happy and healthy, finally enjoying his food, makes all the trial and error worth it. I’ve learned that what works for one dog might not work for another. It is your job to find out which is which.
