Okay, so I’ve got a bulldog, Winston, and this little dude is basically a furry brick. He’s solid, but he hates the cold. Last winter was rough – shivering walks, refusing to go outside, the whole nine yards. So, this year, I was determined to find him a decent winter coat. Thus I started my journey to get the perfect bulldog coats for the winter.
Finding the Right Fit
First things first, I measured Winston. Getting the right size for a bulldog is NO JOKE,I can tell you that. They’re all chest and no neck, you know?

I used a soft tape measure and got his chest girth, neck circumference, and back length,I even jotting them down so I wouldn’t forget.
- Chest: Right behind his front legs, all the way around. This was the most important measurement.
- Neck: Where his collar usually sits.
- Back: From the base of his neck to the base of his tail.
I did not want anything too tight, restricting his movement, or too loose, and let the cold air * I double-check and triple-check these numbers.
Material Matters
Next, I started looking at materials.I know I needed something waterproof, or at least water-resistant, because, you know, snow and slush.I checked the tag to make sure it has a durable outer layer, and that can protect him from the wind, and rain.
And a fleece lining. That was a must for me. Winston needs that extra warmth, and fleece is soft and cozy.
Trying It On & Seeing Action
I finally ordered a couple of coats online that seemed to fit the bill. When they arrived, it was time for the real test: the try-on.I put the first coat on him, making sure it wasn’t too snug around his chest or neck. I checked if he could move his legs freely, did he wince, I don’t want him to be uncomfortable.
The first one was a bit too long in the back, and the second one, though the material felt great, it just wouldn’t stay put when he walked! It kept sliding to the * a mess!

Finally, I got the third coat on * fits! Perfect length, good chest room, and it stayed in place when he did his little bulldog waddle around the living room. Bingo!
The Final Result
We took it for a test run outside. It was a chilly day, but not freezing. Winston seemed much happier than usual! He sniffed around, did his business, and didn’t shiver once. Success!I am happy I found the one he likes.
So, yeah, finding a good winter coat for a bulldog isn’t a five-minute * takes some measuring, some research, and probably a few returns. But seeing Winston comfortable and happy on our winter walks? Totally worth it.
