Okay, so I decided it was time to get serious about keeping my dog’s kennel super clean. I mean, it’s his little home within our home, right? It gets gross fast if you don’t stay on top of it. So I started looking into what cleaning supplies I really needed.
Gathering My Supplies
First, I made a list of what I thought I’d need. I went to that big box, all-in-one, superstore, and got:

- Enzyme cleaner: I heard this stuff is magic for pet messes.
- Regular dish soap: For, like, the everyday grime.
- A good scrub brush: Gotta get into those corners.
- Some old towels: For drying and wiping.
- Rubber gloves: Because, ew.
- A bucket: To hold my soapy water.
The Cleaning Process
Here’s how my cleaning routine looks:
-
Remove everything: First I take out all the blankets, beds, and toys out of kennel.
-
Pre-clean soak: spray every inch of the kennel with the enzyme cleaner, making sure to really soak any spots where he’s had accidents. Then I let it sit for like 10 minutes. That gives the enzymes time to do their thing, breaking down all the nasty stuff.
-
Scrub-a-dub-dub: Then, I fill my bucket with warm water and a squirt of dish soap. I put on my gloves and use the scrub brush to scrub the whole kennel, inside and out. You should concentrate on the corners and any areas that seem extra dirty.
-
Rinse time: Then, after scrubbing, I completely rinsed all of the soap with clean water.
-
Dry everything off: I use the old towels to wipe everything down and get it as dry as possible. Then, I put everything back in the kennel, making sure to wash his bedding first.
Extra Tips
I try to do a quick wipe-down of the kennel every day, and then the deep clean about once a week. It might seem like a lot, but it’s definitely worth it to keep my pup healthy and our house smelling fresh!

I am very happy that I have been able to find an effective way to get rid of the stains on the kennel.
