Okay, so I’ve been meaning to write about my experience switching my cat, Mittens, to Felix wet cat food. It wasn’t a super dramatic change, but it’s something I did, and I figured, why not share?
First off, Mittens is a picky eater. I mean, really picky. She’d been on this dry food forever, and honestly, I didn’t think much about it. It was easy, cheap, and she seemed… fine. But I started reading about how wet food is better for cats, especially for hydration.

The Switch Begins
I started by researching different brands. I didn’t want to go with the absolute cheapest stuff, but I also didn’t want to break the bank. I looked at ingredients, read some reviews, and Felix seemed like a decent middle-ground option.
I picked up a variety pack of Felix – you know, the ones with the little pouches. I figured that way, I could see which flavors Mittens actually liked. Smart move, right?
The first attempt? Total flop. I put down a pouch of the salmon flavor, and Mittens just sniffed it and walked away. Like, full-on snubbed it. I was a little discouraged, I’m not gonna lie.
Trial and Error (and Success!)
I decided to try a different approach. I mixed a tiny bit of the wet food with her dry food. Just a spoonful. She ate it! Okay, she mostly ate around it, but she at least got a taste.
I kept doing this for a few days, slowly increasing the amount of wet food and decreasing the dry. It was a process, let me tell you. There were days where she’d refuse to eat much at all, and I’d worry. But I stayed persistent.
- Day 1-3: Tiny bit of wet food mixed with dry. Mostly ignored.
- Day 4-7: Slightly more wet food, less dry. Some eating, some complaining.
- Day 8-10: Mostly wet food, just a sprinkle of dry. Success!
Eventually, I found that she actually loves the chicken and the tuna flavors. The salmon? Still a no-go. Cats, am I right?
Now, she’s completely on Felix wet food. I still give her a tiny bit of dry sometimes, just as a treat, but her main meals are all wet. I feel good about it, knowing she’s getting more moisture in her diet. And, I think her coat looks a little shinier, but maybe that’s just me. It took sometime and observation but, I finally made it!

So, that’s my Felix wet cat food story. Nothing groundbreaking, but hopefully helpful for anyone else thinking about making the switch. It’s all about patience and finding what your furry friend likes!
