Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure with the Bissell ProHeat Pet Carpet Cleaner. I gotta say, I was a bit intimidated at first, but it turned out to be way easier than I expected.

Getting Started

First things first, I unboxed everything and made sure I had all the parts. There’s the main unit, the hose, a couple of attachments, and of course, the cleaning solution. I laid everything out on the floor so I could see what I was working with.

Prepping the Beast

Next up, I filled the clean water tank. It’s super simple – just unscrew the cap and fill it with hot tap water. Don’t go boiling water or anything, just nice and hot from the tap. Then, I added the Bissell cleaning formula. There are little lines on the tank to show you how much to use, so you don’t have to guess. I screwed the cap back on tight – don’t want any leaks!

Vacuum Time!

Before I got to the actual carpet cleaning, I grabbed my regular vacuum and went over the whole area. This is important because you want to get rid of any loose dirt, pet hair, or whatever else is lurking in your carpet. Trust me, it makes a big difference.

Let’s Clean!

Okay, now for the fun part. I plugged in the Bissell, flipped the power switch, and pressed the little trigger on the handle. This starts spraying the cleaning solution onto the carpet. I slowly moved the cleaner back and forth over a small section, kind of like mowing the lawn, but way more satisfying.

  • I made sure to overlap my passes a bit, just to get every inch of the carpet.
  • As I pulled the cleaner backward, it sucked up the dirty water. You can actually see it going into the dirty water tank – gross, but also kind of cool!
  • I kept going until I’d covered the entire area, making sure not to soak the carpet too much. A few passes were usually enough.

Using the Attachments

For those hard-to-reach spots and the stairs, I used the hose and attachments. I simply connected the hose to the front of the machine, selected the tool I needed (I mostly used the small crevice tool), and got to work. It’s the same process – spray, scrub, and suck up the dirty water.

Emptying and Cleaning Up

Once I was done, I turned off the machine and unplugged it. Then, I emptied the dirty water tank. Seriously, you won’t believe how much gunk comes out of your carpet! I rinsed out both the clean and dirty water tanks, wiped down the machine, and let everything air dry.

And that’s it! My carpets looked and smelled so much better. It was definitely worth the effort, and honestly, it wasn’t even that much effort. The Bissell ProHeat Pet Carpet Cleaner is a pretty user-friendly machine, even for a newbie like me.
