Okay, so I’ve been seeing those “Persian cat New York” searches popping up, and figured I’d share my own little adventure with that whole thing.
My Persian Cat Hunt in NYC
First off, I love, love, LOVE Persian cats. Those fluffy faces? Irresistible! So, I started thinking, “Maybe I should get one?” And since I’m in New York, I thought, “Why not look locally?” Boy, was that a journey.

I started by, you know, hitting up the usual spots online. Just typing in “Persian cat New York” and seeing what came up. Honestly? It was a bit overwhelming. Lots of breeders, some rescues… it was hard to know where to even begin.
- Breeders: So many websites, all these fancy photos of kittens. Prices were all over the place, too. It felt a little intimidating, like, how do you even know who’s legit?
- Rescues: This felt more “me,” but it was also tougher. Fewer Persians available, and you gotta go through applications and stuff. Makes sense, they wanna make sure the cats go to good homes.
I spent a few days just browsing, really. Making notes, comparing prices (yikes, some of those kittens are expensive!), and trying to get a feel for the different places. I even tried to find some reviews, you know, to see if people had good or bad experiences.
Next I decided to go visit.
I went to visit a few of the breeders that showed on my search.
The first one had some amazing looking kittens, but honestly I can’t afford it.
The second one had a kitten I liked, at a price that worked for me.

I also wanted to go to some rescues to visit.
The first rescue I went to was okay, but no cats that I was interested in.
The second rescue I tried had a beautiful Persian, but the waiting list was very long.
After weeks of looking and some visits, finally! I found a breeder, not too far from me, who had a litter, I went to see them and one of them really stood out.
So yeah, that’s my “Persian cat New York” story. Still looking, still hoping, but definitely learning a lot along the way!
