I have been thinking about starting a dog newsletter for a while now, and I finally did it! It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be, but it did take some planning and effort.
Step 1: Figuring Out What to Write
First, I brainstormed a bunch of ideas about what dog owners would want to read. I made a big list of stuff like training tips, product reviews, fun dog stories, and health advice. I also thought about what makes my newsletter different – maybe I’d focus on a specific breed, or rescue dogs, or dogs in my city.

Step 2: Choosing a Platform
Next, I needed a way to actually send out the newsletter. There are a lot of options out there, and after asking some friends what they did, I picked one of them and signed up for a free trial to see if I liked it. This platform also helped me to design the newsletter and make it look decent.
Step 3: Getting the Word Out
Once I had a few newsletters ready, I started promoting it. I posted on my social media, told my friends and family, and even asked the local pet store if I could put up a flyer. I offered a free e-book about dog care to anyone who signed up, which seemed to help.
Step 4: Keeping it Going
- Now that people are subscribing, I make sure to send out the newsletter regularly. It can be a little time-consuming, but I really enjoy sharing dog-related stuff, and I think it’s growing into a little community.
- I also keep an eye on what people like and don’t like, and try to adjust the content accordingly.
- For example, I found that my subscribers really enjoyed reading the newsletter of a lovely dog who is a fitness coach, so I decided to write more about dog training.
- I learned a lot about dog training, and I also found that many people are interested in it. So I also wrote some newsletters like “Is your dog a genius?” and “The real reason your dog’s giving you side eye.”
- Also, I found the magazine Modern Dog, and I subscribed to it. They also have a free dog newsletter, and I signed up. I learned a lot from them, and they inspired me a lot!
It’s been a fun ride so far, and I’m excited to see where it goes!
