Okay, let’s talk about this Garfield movie poster thing. I’ve been messing around with it, and it’s actually kind of a cool little project.
So, first, I started digging around to see what these posters are all about. It’s the usual stuff, you know? Colorful, with that lazy cat front and center. From what I gathered, most of them are printed on this glossy paper to make the colors really pop. I guess that’s pretty standard for posters.

Then I thought, “Why not try to make one myself?” I started playing around with some design tools. I’m no artist, but it’s fun to move things around and see what looks good. I grabbed some images of Garfield, some of his buddies, and started arranging them.
- First, I picked a background. I went with something bright, kinda like what I saw in the examples online.
- Next, I placed Garfield in the middle, ’cause, well, he’s the star.
- Then I added some of the other characters around him. It took some fiddling to get them to look right, not too crowded, not too spaced out.
I spent a good chunk of time just tweaking things. Moving this here, resizing that there. It’s kind of like putting together a puzzle, but you get to decide what the pieces look like. One thing I noticed from those professional posters is they like to use bright orange and blue. I guess it’s a classic combo. I tried to do something similar, using mostly orange and blue.
One poster I saw was full of other characters. So I decided to make one with just Garfield, you know, to have some variety. I found a funny picture of him looking all smug and used that as the main image.
After a while, I ended up with a few different versions. Some are busy, with lots of characters, some are simpler, with just Garfield. It’s not exactly professional quality, but hey, I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. It was fun to try and capture that Garfield vibe.
I also read somewhere that in the early 1900s, those vintage posters were all about Art Nouveau. I don’t know much about that, but I tried to make one poster a little more artsy, just for kicks. Not sure if I nailed it, but it was fun to experiment.
Honestly, it’s a pretty neat way to spend an afternoon. You get to be creative, play with colors, and end up with something that’s kinda unique. Maybe I’ll print one out and stick it on my wall. Who knows, might even make some more. It is a good time.
