Alright, so I’ve been wanting a Rottweiler puppy for a while now. I finally decided to take the plunge and started looking around Ohio ’cause that’s where I’m at. Let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey, but a fun one!
First off, I started hitting up the internet, searching for breeders. I found a few websites that looked promising. One of them was this place called “King’s Rottweilers”. They sounded pretty legit, talking about their “high-end ethical breed” and how they focus on “show quality” dogs from European and German lines. Fancy stuff, huh? They had tons of information about Rottweilers and their bloodlines, sounded really knowledgeable.

Then there was another one, “PuppySpot’s Rottweilers for Ohio.” This one was interesting because it seemed like they help connect people with breeders all over. I browsed through their listings and saw some adorable pups. I spent hours looking at pictures and reading about their personalities. I even started to imagine bringing one home. They had a lot of filters, like age, price, gender, it made the whole process of finding my future buddy super easy.
I also checked out “PuppyFinder.” It’s kind of like a big directory of breeders. I liked that I could see a bunch of different options in one place. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I managed to narrow it down by location and breed.
Hitting the Road
After a while, I decided to go see some puppies in person. I contacted a few breeders and arranged some visits. The first one I went to was a small family breeder near Toledo. They were super friendly and let me play with the puppies. The puppies were all so playful, and they were jumping all over me, it was so cute. It was tough not to take them all home right then and there!
Next, I visited a breeder a bit further away. They had a bigger operation, with lots of dogs. I got to meet the parents of the puppies, which was cool. I made sure to check if the puppies had a good build, clear eyes, and a healthy coat. Also, I observed that the puppies were confident and friendly. The breeder told me the parents had health clearances, particularly for things like hip dysplasia, which was important to me. It was good to see how well they took care of their animals.
Making the Decision
It was a tough decision, but I finally chose a puppy from the first breeder I visited. There was just something about him that I connected with. He was so playful and had the sweetest eyes. I also loved that he was playing with other puppies and with people, so I knew he was well-socialized.
Bringing Him Home
Bringing my new puppy home was so exciting! I had already bought all the supplies – a crate, food, toys, everything. I know Rottweilers need a lot of exercise and training, so I was prepared for that. I even started reading books and watching videos about dog training. The first few days were a bit chaotic, but we quickly settled into a routine. He’s a fast learner, and we’ve already started with basic obedience training. It’s been a lot of work, but so rewarding. He is now a part of the family.
So yeah, that’s my story of getting a Rottweiler puppy in Ohio. It was definitely an adventure, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. If you’re thinking about getting a Rottweiler, I say go for it! Just make sure you do your research and are prepared for the responsibility. They are the best!
