Okay, so, I needed a place to board my dog and cat for the weekend while I was out of town. After some searching, I decided to try out Hunt Club Boarding Kennel & Cattery. I’d heard a bit about them and figured, why not give it a shot? I mean it has to be good, right?

First thing I did was to call them up. I needed to know if they even had space for my fur babies. The person who answered the phone was pretty nice, answered all my basic questions. She told me that I should better come over in person to discuss the details. Fair enough.

The next day, I drove over to the place. It’s a bit out of the way, but not too hard to find. I pulled up to this kind of old-fashioned-looking building, pretty clean, seemed well-maintained, which was a good start. When I went inside, I was greeted by a couple of staff members. I need to say that they were all super friendly and seemed to really love animals, which immediately put me at ease. They showed me around, and I got to see where my pets would be staying.

The dog kennels were spacious and clean, with indoor and outdoor access. Each dog had its own little area, and they had a big play yard where they could run around. Seemed like fun for them. The cattery was separate, which is good because my cat can be a bit…antisocial, haha. The cat area had these little condos, pretty cozy, with places to climb and perches to look out of. They were not bad at all, I thought.

After seeing the facilities, I sat down with one of the staff members to go over the details. We talked about my pets’ feeding schedules, any medications they needed, and their temperaments. I told her about my dog being super active and my cat being kind of a scaredy-cat. They made notes of everything, which made me feel like they were really going to take good care of them.

  • Booking: I booked the stay for my pets, paid a deposit, and they gave me a receipt.
  • Paperwork: They gave me some forms to fill out, asking for vet information, emergency contacts, and all that important stuff. I did that at home and send it back to them via email.
  • Preparation: A few days before the trip, I got all my pets’ stuff together – their food, bowls, beds, some toys, and their leashes.
  • Drop-off: On the day of the trip, I took my pets to the kennel. The staff helped me get them settled in. It was a bit sad to leave them, but I knew they were in good hands. The kennel was fine. It looked really safe and fun for them.
  • Updates: I called the kennel once while I was away just to check in. They told me my dog was having a blast playing with the other dogs and my cat was slowly warming up to the staff. Made me happy to hear that.
  • Pick-up: When I got back, I picked up my pets. They were happy to see me, of course, but they also seemed like they’d had a good time. They were healthy, clean, and didn’t seem stressed at all. They were really happy.

All in all, it was a pretty good experience. I think I finally found a decent kennel to board my babies at. I’d definitely use Hunt Club Boarding Kennel & Cattery again. It’s a weight off my shoulders knowing there’s a reliable place I can take my pets when I need to travel. I will recommend it to my friends.
