Okay, so today I want to talk about crates for Labrador Retrievers. I just got a new puppy, a super cute Lab, and I realized I needed a good crate for him. I did some digging around to figure out what I needed.
First, I had to decide on the size. Labs grow pretty big, so I knew I couldn’t just get any crate. I found out that a 36x25x25 inch crate is usually recommended for adult Labs. This is perfect for my dog. It gives them enough room to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably, but it’s not so big that they feel lost in it.

Then, I started looking at different brands. There are so many options out there, it’s kind of overwhelming! I saw that MidWest Homes for Pets is a popular choice, so I checked out their double-door crates. I liked that they had two doors because it makes it easier to place the crate in different spots in my house. Plus, it’s easier for my puppy to get in and out.
- Size: 36x25x25 inches.
- Brand: MidWest Homes for Pets, and some others.
- Type: Double-door seemed like the best choice for me.
I also noticed some crates are made from materials from “well-managed forests.” I guess that’s good for the environment, which is a nice bonus. And I saw a note that said, “Only 1 left in stock – order soon,” which kind of made me want to hurry up and buy one!
Making the Choice
After looking at all the options, I decided to go with the MidWest double-door crate. It seemed like the best fit for my Lab and me. I made sure to order the 36-inch one, so he’ll have plenty of room when he’s fully grown. It arrived pretty quickly, and setting it up was a breeze. No tools needed, which was great.
Now, my puppy is getting used to his new crate. I put a comfy bed and some of his favorite toys inside to make him feel at home. It took a little time, but he’s starting to see it as his safe space. I’ve been using treats and positive reinforcement to encourage him to go in, and it’s working pretty well. He even sleeps in there at night now!
Overall, I’m really happy with my decision. It took some research, but finding the right crate for my Lab was worth it. He’s comfortable and safe, and I have peace of mind knowing he has a cozy spot of his own. If you’re getting a Lab puppy, I definitely recommend putting some thought into choosing the right crate. It makes a big difference!
