Okay, so I saw a video online about making a dog toy ball with a rope, and I thought, “Hey, that looks fun! My dog would love that!” So, I decided to give it a try.
First things first, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I found an old tennis ball that my dog hadn’t completely destroyed yet. Then, I grabbed some rope from my garage. It wasn’t anything fancy, just some sturdy rope I had lying around. I also grabbed a pair of scissors and a screwdriver. Not sure I’d need the screwdriver, but it’s always good to be prepared, right?

Next, I tried to figure out how to get the rope through the ball. The video made it look so easy! They just poked a hole and threaded the rope through. Well, let me tell you, it wasn’t that easy for me. I wrestled with that tennis ball for a good ten minutes, trying to make a hole big enough for the rope. I started with the scissors, but that didn’t really work.
Then I remembered the screwdriver! I used it to carefully poke a hole on opposite sides of the tennis ball. It took some effort, but I finally managed to get two holes that lined up. That was probably the hardest part, honestly. I fished one end of the rope and start pulling it, I saw it came out from the other side. It worked!
Once I had the holes, I threaded the rope through the ball. I pulled it through until I had about the same amount of rope on each side. Then, I tied a big knot on each end of the rope to make sure it wouldn’t slip back through the ball. I made sure those knots were super tight!
And that was it! I had a brand new dog toy. It was such a simple project, but my dog went absolutely nuts for it. He loves chasing the ball, and the rope makes it easy for him to grab it and bring it back. We played in the yard for like an hour. He was so happy, and I felt pretty good about myself too.
So, if you’re looking for a cheap and easy way to entertain your furry friend, I definitely recommend trying this out. It’s a great way to reuse old things you have around the house, and your dog will love you for it!
- tennis ball
- rope
- scissors
- screwdriver
My tips:
- Make sure the rope is strong enough for your dog’s size and chewing habits.
- Double-check those knots! You don’t want the rope coming loose.
- Always watch your dog when they’re playing with any toy. Safety first!
It was a fun little project, and it’s definitely worth a try if you want to make your dog a happy pup!
