Okay, so, today I’m gonna talk about this “hitting dog with newspaper” thing. I saw some stuff online, and, man, it got me thinking. I decided to dive in and see what’s what.

First off, I started by reading a bunch of articles and forum posts. Some folks were saying it’s fine, others were totally against it. I grabbed a newspaper and tried a few things, not on a dog, of course, but just to get a feel for it.

I rolled up the newspaper and tapped it on the table, on my hand, you know, just experimenting with the sound and feel. It wasn’t as loud or harsh as I thought it would be. Then, I watched some videos on dog training, trying to understand the whole positive reinforcement thing. The idea is to reward good behavior instead of punishing the bad, right?

I tried using treats and a clicker to see how that works. It’s kinda cool, you click and give a treat when the dog does something good. I even practiced with my neighbor’s dog, Max – he’s a good boy. We worked on “sit” and “stay,” and he got it pretty quick with the treats. No newspaper needed!

  • Read articles and forum posts about using newspapers in dog training.
  • Experimented with a rolled-up newspaper to understand its impact.
  • Watched dog training videos focusing on positive reinforcement.
  • Practiced positive reinforcement techniques using treats and a clicker.
  • Tested these methods with my neighbor’s dog, Max.

After all this, I realized that hitting a dog with a newspaper isn’t the way to go. It’s all about patience and positive vibes. If Max can learn without it, any dog can. This whole thing taught me a lot about dog behavior and how to be a better dog owner, or just a better friend to dogs, really.

My Conclusion

So yeah, that’s my experience with the whole “hitting dog with newspaper” experiment. I went in curious and came out with a whole new perspective. I think it’s way better to build trust with dogs through treats, praise, and patience. No need for newspapers or any kind of hitting. It’s all about understanding and respecting these furry friends. Trust me, it works, and it feels a whole lot better for both of you.
