Today I want to talk about something that’s been on my mind for a while: getting a French mini bulldog. I’ve always been a dog lover, and the idea of having a tiny, adorable Frenchie companion really got me excited.
So, I started my journey by doing tons of research online. I read everything I could find about mini French bulldogs. From what I gathered, they aren’t an officially recognized breed, but more like a smaller version of the standard French bulldog. It seems like they’re often called “teacup Frenchies,” and they’re super popular because of their small size and big personalities.

I learned that a regular Frenchie grows to be about 11-13 inches tall and weighs around 28-30 pounds, but a mini is supposed to be less than 11 inches tall and weigh a lot less than 28 pounds. The exact size seems to depend on how they’re bred, which is something I knew I’d have to look into more.
After getting a basic understanding, I decided to look for breeders. Oh boy, was that an eye-opener! The demand for these little guys is insane, and the prices reflect that. I saw some puppies going for thousands of dollars. It’s crazy! A regular Frenchie puppy is already expensive, around $2800, but these minis, especially the ones with fancy colors or coats, were way more.
I also started to learn about potential health issues. I contacted a local vet in Santa Rosa, they told me these dogs can have some health problems, which is something to consider. They gave me some tips on how to keep them healthy, which was reassuring.
Then I began reaching out to breeders. I wanted to make sure I was getting a puppy from someone who cared about the dogs and wasn’t just in it for the money. I emailed a few, asked a bunch of questions about their breeding practices, the health of the parents, and how they raise the puppies.
One breeder, in particular, caught my attention. They were really transparent about everything and seemed genuinely passionate about French bulldogs. We had a long conversation, and they answered all my questions patiently. They even invited me to visit their facility to meet the puppies and their parents.
So, I planned a visit. Seeing the puppies in person was amazing. They were even cuter than in the pictures! I got to see how they interacted with each other and with the breeder. It was clear that they were well-socialized and loved.
After the visit, I took some time to think it over. It’s a big decision, and I wanted to be sure. I talked it over with my family and weighed the pros and cons. The cost was a big factor, but so was the joy a little Frenchie could bring into our lives.

Finally, I made my decision. I decided to go for it! I contacted the breeder and put down a deposit for a little brindle mini Frenchie. I was so excited! I started preparing our home for the new arrival, buying all the necessary supplies: a comfy bed, toys, food, and everything else a puppy needs.
A few weeks later, I picked up my new puppy. It was one of the happiest days of my life. We named him Winston, and he’s been the perfect addition to our family. He’s playful, affectionate, and full of personality. It’s been a journey, but it was totally worth it. Having Winston in our lives has brought so much joy and laughter.
- Size and Appearance: Mini Frenchies are much smaller than regular ones, usually under 11 inches tall and considerably less than 28 pounds.
- Cost: They can be really expensive, often more than standard French bulldogs. I saw prices ranging from a few thousand dollars to over $10,000 for some.
- Health: They might have some health issues, so it’s important to find a good breeder and get regular vet check-ups.
- Temperament: From what I’ve seen, they have great personalities – playful and loving.
Getting a mini French bulldog was a big decision, but I’m so glad I did it. Winston has quickly become a beloved member of our family, and I can’t imagine life without him.
