And for the love of Pete, take off the skin! That skin’s full of fat and spices and who knows what else. Just give ’em the plain, cooked meat. White meat is best, they say. My cat like that so much.
And make sure there ain’t no bones in it! Them little turkey bones can splinter and get stuck in their throats. We don’t want no chokin’ kitties on Thanksgiving, now do we? Just nice, clean, cooked turkey meat. That’s the ticket! Plain turkey is good, remember that.

What about them green beans? Well, a little bit of plain, cooked green bean might be okay. Just a tiny bit, though. Don’t go overloadin’ their little bowls with veggies. They’re carnivores, you know. Meat-eaters! They need their meat. Green beans, just a little, if you want, okay?
Cranberry sauce? Oh, honey, no. That’s way too sweet for a cat. Sugar ain’t good for them. And all them spices in there? Cinnamon and whatnot? Nope, nope, nope. Keep that cranberry sauce for yourself. No cranberry sauce for kitty.
Pumpkin pie? Another big no! Cats don’t need no dessert. Especially not one filled with sugar and spices. That’s just askin’ for trouble. Keep the pie for the humans, and keep the kitty away from it! No pumpkin pie, that’s a human food.
So what can they have besides the turkey, you ask?
- Well, you can give ’em a little bit of plain, cooked sweet potato. Just a little! No butter, no sugar, just the plain sweet potato.
- Some folks say a tiny bit of plain, cooked carrots is okay, too. Again, just a tiny bit.
- Maybe a little spoonful of their regular wet food, just to make it feel like a special meal.
But really, that cooked turkey is gonna be the main event for them. That’s what they’ll really love. That is a good Thanksgiving dinner for them, they will be happy. And remember, no matter what you give ’em, keep it small. Cats have tiny tummies, and we don’t want to make ’em sick on Thanksgiving. Just a little taste of somethin’ special is all they need. Keep the portion small, very important.
And don’t forget the fresh water! Make sure they got plenty of fresh water to wash it all down. That’s important all the time, but especially when they’re eatin’ somethin’ new. Fresh water, don’t forget that!
