Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about how to keep that there cat litter. You know, the stuff your furry friend pees and poops in. Ain’t nobody wants a stinky house, right?
So, first things first, you gotta find yourself a good spot to put it. Don’t just leave it in the bag it came in, that’s for sure. Them bags ain’t strong enough, and critters like mice and bugs, they love that stuff. You don’t want a critter party in your house, do ya?

Now, I seen folks use all sorts of things. Big plastic bins with lids, them’s good. Make sure it’s a good, strong bin, not one of them flimsy ones. You want somethin’ that can keep the smell in and the critters out. And get one with a lid that fits tight. That’s important.
- Get a strong plastic bin.
- Make sure the lid fits tight.
- Find a good spot to keep it.
But here’s the thing, some folks say you gotta let that litter breathe a bit. If you seal it up tight, moisture can get trapped, and then you got yourself a moldy mess. And nobody wants that. So, maybe poke a few little holes in the lid? Or open it up every now and then to let some air in. Just don’t leave it open all the time, you hear?
I heard tell of folks using metal cans too. Them big ol’ garbage cans, the metal ones? They work pretty good, long as they got a tight-fitting lid. Keeps the critters out, that’s for sure. But you gotta be careful, metal can rust, especially if you keep it outside. And rust ain’t good for nothin’!
And where you keep it matters too. Don’t put it in a damp place, like the basement if it gets wet down there. That’s just askin’ for trouble. Find a dry spot, maybe in a closet or a garage. Somewhere out of the way, where it won’t get knocked over or stepped on.
Now, some folks, they buy them big ol’ bags of litter, the ones that last forever. That’s fine, long as you got a place to keep it. But if you ain’t got much room, just buy the smaller bags. It’s better to buy a little at a time than to have a big ol’ bag sittin’ around gettin’ in the way.
And here’s another thing, don’t mix the new litter and the used litter, keep them separate. Used cat litter needs special treatment. You can’t just dump it in the trash, you know. It’s got all that pee and poop in it. You gotta put it in a bag, tie it up tight, and then put it in the trash. And some folks, they even flush it down the toilet, though I ain’t too sure about that. Seems like it could clog things up.
Keepin’ that litter dry is real important. If it gets wet, it gets all clumpy and nasty, and then it’s no good to nobody. So, keep it up off the floor, and make sure the lid is on tight. And if you spill some, clean it up right away. Don’t let it sit there, it’ll attract all kinds of bugs and stuff.

Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you. I’m just tellin’ you what I’ve learned over the years. But if you follow these tips, you should be able to keep your cat litter fresh and dry, and your house smellin’ good. And that’s all there is to it.
One last thing, when you are choosing a container to store the cat litter, you have to think of the cat too. You do not want to store the cat litter where the cat can reach. Cats are curious creatures and they might get into the container and make a mess or even worse, eat the litter. So, keep it out of reach.
And remember, a clean house is a happy house. And a happy house is a good house. So, take care of your litter, and your cat will thank you for it. Even if they can’t talk, they’ll show you they appreciate it by purrin’ and rubbin’ up against your legs.
