Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about makin’ some plain ol’ dog food, the kind that won’t upset their little bellies. My old man, he used to say, “Keep it simple, stupid,” and that goes for dog food too. No fancy stuff, just good, plain food.

So, first things first, we need some rice. Not that fancy brown rice, the plain white stuff. Boil it up real good, make sure it’s nice and soft. My grandma always said, “overcook it rather than undercook it, the dog ain’t gonna complain”. You know, like when you make porridge for a baby, gotta be soft and easy to eat. We don’t want our furry friends chokin’ on no hard rice, do we? That’s right, we don’t.

Next up, we need some meat. Now, don’t go givin’ them no fatty bacon or nothin’. Chicken breast is good, or some lean ground beef. Boil it up too, just like the rice. And make sure you take off all the skin and bones. Dogs ain’t like us, they can’t be pickin’ out bones. They’ll just swallow ’em whole and then you’ll be rushin’ to the vet, and that ain’t no fun for nobody, let me tell you.

Once the rice and meat are cooked, we gotta mix ’em up. I usually do about three parts rice to one part meat. That seems to work pretty good. You don’t want too much meat, it’ll give ’em the runs. And nobody wants to clean up that mess, believe you me. Mix it all up in a big bowl, and there you go, homemade bland dog food, just like that. Easy peasy.

Now, some folks like to add some veggies too. Cooked carrots are good, or maybe some sweet potatoes. Butternut squash too, I’ve heard that’s good for ‘em. Just make sure they’re cooked real soft, just like the rice and meat. And don’t go overboard, a little bit is all you need. We ain’t makin’ no salad here, just some good, plain dog food.

  • Boil white rice until it’s soft
  • Boil chicken breast or lean ground beef, remove skin and bones
  • Mix three parts rice to one part meat
  • Optional: Add some cooked soft vegetables like carrots or sweet potatoes

And listen, you can’t be makin’ a whole bunch of this stuff and leavin’ it sit around for days. It’ll go bad, just like people food. I usually make enough for a couple of days, and keep it in the fridge. When it’s time to feed the dogs, I just warm it up a little bit. Don’t want ’em eatin’ no cold food, that ain’t right.

Some folks say you can add some eggs too. Scrambled eggs, that is. Just make sure they’re cooked all the way through. Dogs can eat eggs, long as they ain’t allergic or nothin’. But honestly, I never bothered with eggs. Rice and meat, that’s all they need, far as I’m concerned. Keeps ’em healthy and happy, and that’s all that matters.

Now, why would you wanna make your own dog food, you ask? Well, let me tell you, that store-bought stuff, sometimes it’s just plain garbage. Full of all sorts of chemicals and whatnot. And sometimes they have those recalls, where they find somethin’ bad in the food and you gotta throw it all out. It’s a waste of money and it ain’t good for your dogs. With homemade food, you know exactly what’s in it. Just good, plain ingredients, nothin’ fancy. And if your dog has a sensitive stomach, homemade bland diet can really help, like when little Timmy was not well, this helped him.

So there you have it, a simple recipe for bland dog food. It ain’t rocket science, just good, plain food for your furry friends. And if you’re worried about pet food recalls or you just want to give your dog somethin’ healthier, give this a try. Your dog will thank you for it, even if they can’t say it out loud.

And remember, if your dog is sick or has any health problems, you should always talk to a vet. I ain’t no doctor, just a woman who knows how to make good, plain dog food. This here recipe is just a suggestion, somethin’ you can try. But always do what’s best for your dog, that’s the most important thing.
