Alright, let’s talk about these Ragdoll cats, you know, the ones them city folks are crazy about. I heard they got some places in Ohio, called catteries, where they raise these fancy cats. So, if you’re thinkin’ ’bout gettin’ one, listen up, I’ll tell ya what I know.

First off, these Ragdolls ain’t cheap. I heard tell they can cost ya anywhere from, hold on, $1,500 to $2,500 or even more! Can you believe that? For a cat! Back in my day, cats just showed up on your porch, you didn’t go buyin’ ’em like they were gold nuggets. But I guess that’s how it is now. People want what they want, and they’re willin’ to pay for it.
Why so much money, you ask? Well, they say it’s ’cause these Ragdolls are kinda new, not like them ol’ alley cats we got around here. And everybody wants ’em. They say these cats are like dogs, all friendly and clingy. And pretty, too, with their blue eyes and soft fur. So, I guess that’s why folks are linin’ up to pay big bucks for ’em.
Now, if you’re gonna spend that kinda money, you wanna make sure you’re gettin’ a good cat, right? You don’t want no sickly critter. So, they say you gotta find a good breeder, someone who knows what they’re doin’. And they say you should go visit the cattery, see where the cats are livin’, make sure it’s clean and the cats are happy. That makes sense, I reckon. You wouldn’t buy a pig in a poke, would ya?
- Check the place out: Make sure it’s clean and the cats look healthy.
- Ask questions: Don’t be shy, ask the breeder about the cats, their health, their parents, all that stuff.
- Look at the kittens: They should be playful and active, with bright eyes and clean fur.
They got all sorts of colors, too, these Ragdolls. Seal, chocolate, blue, lilac, flame, cream, and even tortoiseshell. Sounds like a fancy ice cream shop, doesn’t it? And they got different patterns, too. Some got dark points on their ears, feet, and tails. Some got white mitts on their paws, like they’re wearin’ little gloves. And some got big white patches, like they fell in a bucket of paint. So, you can pick and choose, find one that tickles your fancy.
Now, these cats, they ain’t fully grown up ’til they’re four years old. That’s a long time for a cat, ain’t it? And they live a good long while, too. Maybe 12 to 17 years, they say. So, if you get a Ragdoll, you gotta be prepared to take care of it for a long time. Feed it good, take it to the vet when it’s sick, and give it lots of love. That’s what they need, just like any other creature.
I saw somethin’ about a place called “Shades of Sapphire” that specializes in all them fancy colors. And another one, “Cosmic Royals,” but they used to do Ragdolls and now they do Maine Coons. Big ol’ cats, those Maine Coons, but that’s a story for another day. Point is, there’s a lot of choices out there if you’re lookin’ for a Ragdoll in Ohio.

So, there you have it. That’s what I know about Ragdoll catteries in Ohio. They’re expensive, they’re pretty, and they need good homes. If you’re thinkin’ ’bout gettin’ one, do your homework, find a good breeder, and be prepared to love that cat for a long, long time. And don’t forget to haggle a little, maybe you can get that price down a bit! You never know unless you try. Just like sellin’ eggs, gotta get the best price ya can.
Remember, a cat is a big responsibility, not just a pretty face. You gotta feed it, clean up after it, and take care of it when it’s sick. But if you’re willin’ to do all that, a Ragdoll can bring a lot of joy to your life. They’re quiet cats, not like them yowlin’ ones you hear at night. They like to be petted and held, and they’ll follow you around like a little shadow. Just good company, I reckon.
And one more thing, if you can’t afford one of these fancy cats, don’t fret. There’s plenty of good cats at the shelter that need homes too. They might not be as fancy, but they got just as much love to give.
