Well now, if yer lookin’ to get yerself a Snowshoe Siamese cat, I reckon yer in for somethin’ special. These little critters ain’t like yer regular house cats. Nope, they’re rare as hen’s teeth and can cost ya a pretty penny, somewhere between $2,000 to $4,000, or maybe more if yer real lucky. And mind ya, that’s not even includin’ all the other stuff you gotta buy like food, toys, and all the bits and bobs that come with takin’ care of ’em.

Top Snowshoe Siamese Cat Breeders: Rare and Beautiful Cats for Sale

The Snowshoe cat, bless its heart, comes with a look that’s right fancy, what with them white paws and all. They got what’s called “colorpoint” markings, kinda like them Siamese cats do, but not quite the same. The color on their fur ain’t spread out like a regular tabby, but more in little patches around the ears, face, and tail. And, if you’re lucky, the Snowshoe will have that distinct “V” shaped markin’ on its face, just like the Siamese. But here’s the kicker – these markings ain’t easy to get just right. It takes a bit of know-how to breed ’em just so, and that’s why they’re so rare.

Now, let me tell ya, these cats ain’t just good lookin’. They’re got a personality that’ll make yer heart melt. They’re playful and curious, always wantin’ to be in the middle of the action. They got a lot of energy and love to be around folks, so don’t expect ’em to be shy or stand-offish. Snowshoes are known for their affectionate nature, always purrin’ and rubbin’ up against ya when you least expect it. You won’t find ’em hidin’ under the bed like some other cats. Nope, they like to be the center of attention.

Now, the thing about Snowshoe cats is they come from a pretty special background. They were first bred in the 1960s right here in the United States. A lady by the name of Dorothy Hinds-Daugherty, a breeder of Siamese cats, had herself a cat that gave birth to some kittens with white paws. She saw somethin’ special in ’em and decided to start breedin’ for that look. Over time, she managed to create what we now call the Snowshoe Siamese breed. But like I said, breedin’ ’em ain’t easy. The gene that gives ‘em them white paws and V-shaped markings is recessive, so it ain’t guaranteed every litter will have ‘em.

As for their eyes, well, you ain’t gonna find no Snowshoe cat without blue eyes. If ya do, then that cat might be a mix, somethin’ else crossed in there. But the Snowshoe’s eyes, they ain’t quite like the sharp slits of a Siamese. Nope, theirs are more rounded, still blue, but softer, like a lake on a calm day. Sometimes they can even be a little darker blue, dependin’ on the cat. But one thing’s for sure, them blue eyes are just as striking as the rest of their looks.

It’s also worth mentionin’ that these Snowshoe cats are a bit more of a handful compared to regular kitties. They’re active, they want to play, they want to explore. So if yer lookin’ for a lazy lap cat, a Snowshoe might not be yer best bet. But if ya want a cat that’s gonna keep ya on yer toes, always wantin’ attention, then this breed might be just what you’re lookin’ for. And if you’re willin’ to put in the time and effort, you’ll be rewarded with a loyal, loving companion that’ll keep ya company for many years.

Now, if you decide to go ahead and get yourself a Snowshoe cat, be prepared to spend a little extra time and money. They’re not the easiest to find, and breeders who specialize in ’em ain’t everywhere. But don’t worry, if you look hard enough, you’ll find a good one who knows how to breed these special little creatures. Just be ready for the price tag, and make sure yer home is ready for all the playin’ and love they’re gonna shower on ya. You won’t regret it, I promise ya that!
